NATALIE & CHRIS – THE WEST MILL, DERBYSHIRE
We were so excited to be photographing Natalie and Chris’s industrial/gatsby themed wedding at the super quirky West Mill in Derbyshire, a refurbished water mill which had retained most of it’s original, raw features and characteristics, decorated with classically vintage furnishings. A pure joy to photograph and film at, and a totally unique wedding venue.
The couple used New York as a stand out talking point, and the location for their engagement. Tables were named after famous Big Apple landmarks and the wedding favours classic New York post cards containing personal messages from the couple.
Nat and Chris’s wedding ceremony was set against bare brick, on an uneven cobbled floor. Large windows offered a stunning view across the Derbyshire countryside. Natural foliage added an organic contrast to the industrial backdrop – so cool.
The venue didn’t offer the vast grounds of some rural venues, but made up for it with an overwhelming choice of interior features, although the fierce water and dominating chimney stack we’re pretty big talking points.
A wicked live band helped to get the evening party started and there were plenty of controversial moves on display. We even had a boogey ourselves.
We were truly honoured to have been asked to capture Natalie and Chris’s wedding and are even more privaledged to be sharing some of our favourite photographs from the day. Enjoy 🙂
